Will my time at Bible School be credited towards my studies?

Although we're not accredited as a place of apprenticeship (that isn't the purpose of our Bible School), successful students of the Bible School will receive up to twenty-two credit points (ECTS) for further study at the Bibelstudienkolleg (BSK) in Ostfildern, near Stuttgart. Full time students at the BSK receive thirty credit points (ECTS) per semester.

Other institutions may also recognize the certificates presented to you at the end of your studies at Klostermühle. If you plan to study at a theological institution after Bible School, we recommend that you talk to them beforehand to clarify.

We will send you a detailed letter before the semester begins. For the lectures, you will need pens and paper, or a laptop, and a Bible too (we recommend the Luther or Elberfelder translations). You will be in two- to four-bed rooms so don't bring too many belongings. There won't be much space apart from your clothes and sportsgear, but do bring some photos or decoration for the walls. Remember, less is more.

How much money will I need to bring to Bible School?

That's really up to you. Our bookstore and Kiosk (the Beehive) are open every day. We also have a coffee machine which is accessible throughout the day (1,00€/drink). You will need around 70-80€ to buy books. There's also the opportunity to give an offering at the mission evenings and at church on Sundays.

You should also consider how much you'll need for toiletries, medicine, train tickets and activities during your free time, such as eating delicious cake at Cafe Nr. 9 in Obernhof, eating Döner kebabs in Nassau, going to McDonald's and the cinema in Limburg, and for all kinds of things in Koblenz.

Can I travel home or visit friends during Bible School?

As community plays such a central role during Bible School, it's only possible to so in exaptional circumstances if, for example, your parents or grandparents are celebrating an important birthday, you have to attend a wedding, a job interview etc. However, there are two weekends (in November and February, from Thursday to Sunday afternoons) where you can go home for the weekend, and also about two weeks for the Christmas holidays.

There are plenty of ways to spend a great weekend in and around Klostermühle with the other BIble School students.

How many Bible School students are there?

On average, there are between 30 and 50 people each year, and they come from all different walks of life. There are often some international students; this year we had students from Switzerland, Canada, Eritrea, Israel and Portugal.

Some students come straight after they’ve finished school or university, some are well into their careers but decide to take some time out for them and for God. We’ve even had retirees, who have been a great addition and enrichment to what is normally a younger age range. Most years, we also have a young couple or a family with young children. The average age of our students is between 23 and 25 years.
